Iceland 2025

An 8 day trip to Iceland. I had several days with storms, snow-storms, snow and rain - but also a couple of good weather days in the end. I rented a car from Kuku-campers (Subaru Forester) that I could sleep in. Unfortunately the car stank terrible, had 190t km on it, and tires to match.... So when I got into a snowstorm in the eastern mountains I almost had a serious accident because of the bad tires (next morning I found 2 cars on their roofs at the same place that had fallen off the elevated road). New icelandic policies of having to stay every night in make shift camp-places were pretty inconvenient, as I wanted to be in nature late evening and early mornings. Birding is great in Iceland, but way too many interesting places are prohibited to enter because of the eider-down industry - especially in northeast. I drove more than 4.000 km and visited numerous localities in both west, north and eastern Iceland.
